Sotheby’s v. Pourrieres
Sotheby’s v. Pourrieres, No. 1:17-cv-00326 (S.D.N.Y. filed Jan. 1, 2017).
This case concerns a breach of contract dispute between Sotheby’s and the consignor of a painting believed, at the time, to be the work of the circle of Parmigianino. After the painting was later deemed by Sotheby’s to be a forgery, the auction house rescinded its sale of the work and sued the consignor to recover the proceeds.
