New Antiquities Law
Colombia outlaws sale and unauthorized exploration of pre-Columbian antiquities. The law requires all antiquities discovered after its passage to be the property of the State and includes the controversial provision that all antiquities inherited after 1982 pass into State collections after 30 years. This provision is being challenged by a Costa Rican collector.
