Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act, 28 U.S.C. §§ 1602-1607 (1976, as last amended Jan. 28, 2008).


Foreign states are immune from the jurisdiction of both federal and state courts in the United States, with exceptions. Notable exceptions include the foreign state’s waiving its immunity and actions based on commercial activities.
