The Video of IFAR's Program on Provenance Research Is Now Posted on IFAR's Website

You can now view the video of " Provenance Research: Where Scholarship Meets Diligence," an IFAR Evening of April 20, 2021, on IFAR's website. The program was timed to coincide with the U.S. launch of the book Provenance Research Today, edited by Arthur Tompkins and co-published by IFAR and Lund Humphries.

The Video of our IFAR Evening on American Abstract Expressionism in a Global Context is Posted On January 14, 2021, IFAR hosted a virtual IFAR Evening featuring two noted art historians -- Dr. Pepe Karmel, Associate Professor at New York University, and Dr.Jack Flam, Professor Emeritus of Art History, CUNY, and President of the Dedalus Foundation -- in a conversation on "American Abstract Expressionism in a Global Context." The program was organized in conjunction with the publication of Professor Karmel's new book on abstract art.  IFAR has now posted the video of that program on its website. It is one of several programs we have made available for all to view.

IFAR Mourns the Passing of Council Members and other friends and supporters

It is with great sadness that IFAR announces the passing of several Council members long associated with our organization: Franklin Feldman, Jan Maarten Boll, and William Gerdts – giants in their fields. They join the passing of several other long-time friends and supporters of IFAR, who have also passed away in recent years, all of whom will be sorely missed.

The Video of our IFAR Evening on Art Museum Security and Theft is Posted IFAR has posted on its website the video of our August 18, 2020 virtual IFAR Evening on Art Museum Security and Theft, featuring John Barelli, the former Chief Security Officer of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The program was moderated by IFAR's Executive Director, Sharon Flescher. This is one of several virtual IFAR Evenings that IFAR has been hosting during the pandemic closures. We have made these videos and the videos of many other previous programs available to all on the Programs & Events section of our site.

View IFAR Evening Videos during the Covid-19 Closures We wish you all well during this difficult Covid-19 period.  IFAR's staff is working remotely. The office will reopen after we receive the OK from New York's Governor and Mayor. We will be announcing several virtual programs soon.  Meanwhile, videos of many past IFAR Evenings have been posted on our website, most recently, the Evenings devoted to "The 20th Anniversary of the Washington Conference on Holocaust-Era Looted Assets" and to "John Richardson: Picasso Scholar and Art World Luminary," which featured the artist's granddaughter speaking about her grandmother, Marie-Thérese Walter, Picasso's blonde muse.

IFAR Decries Deliberate Targeting of Cultural Sites IFAR strongly objects to the announcement by the President of the U.S. of his intention to deliberately target cultural sites in Iran, which goes against traditional U.S. values and policy.

We are pleased to announce that the new IFAR Journal - Vol. 19, nos. 1 & 2 -- features the illustrated and edited talks from our sold-out April 24, 2018 IFAR Evening on Amedeo Modigliani. The Journal was mailed to subscribers, and individual copies can be purchased onIFAR's website.
