Précis

In 2007, Northfield Auctions in Massachusetts offered six Italian and German landscape paintings for sale, all coming from the estate of a U.S. Army veteran. The paintings, which had been part of the Bavarian State Painting Collection prior to World War II and were listed as a wartime loss, were seized by the United States on behalf of Bavaria.
