Definitions

Cultural Patrimony:
Tangible and intangible assets created or integrated by the Mozambique People that are relevant to the definition of the cultural identity of Mozambique. (Law No. 10/88, Art. 3(1))
 
Assets classified as cultural patrimony enjoy special protection by the Government. (Law No. 10/88, Art. 3(6))

Tangible cultural assets:
Real and movable assets that, based on their archaeological, historical, bibliographic, artistic, and scientific value, are part of the cultural patrimony of Mozambique. (Law No. 10/88, Art. 3(3))

 
Cultural real assets include monuments, complexes, sites or locations, and natural elements. (Law No. 10/88, Art. 3(4))

Registry
 
The following are classified assets of cultural patrimony:
 
            a) All monuments and archaeological elements;
 
            b) All improvements and buildings erected prior to 1920;
 
            c) All movable cultural assets imported or manufactured prior to 1900;
 

            d) The assets of the Frente de Libertação de Moçambique and the documentation of the group of Mozambique nationalist movements;

 
            e)      The primary bases of operations of the Frente de Libertação de Moçambique during the armed conflict for national liberation. (Law No. 10/88, Art. 7(2))
 
All classified assets of cultural patrimony shall be entered in the Registry of Cultural Patrimony. (Law No. 10/88, Art. 9)
